IntegrateIT carries and installs NAD Electronics across the Kansas City metro — the amplifiers, receivers and multichannel rack gear that end up being what a whole-house audio system actually is. One precision first, because the trade is sloppy about this word: NAD is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized NAD dealer. One correction before the model names, because it is the most common thing written wrongly about this brand: NAD publishes three series, and none of them is called the T series. Masters is the flagship line, Classic is the broad one, and Custom Install — NAD’s own CI Series — is the rack line built for installers. The T 778 and T 758 V3i, the two AV surround receivers, are Classic products that also appear in the CI collection. Several model numbers still circulating have been superseded, too: it is M10 V3, M33 V2, M23 V2, C 700 V2 and T 758 V3i today.

What we carry and install from NAD

Grouped by the job rather than by the series, because that is how a system gets specified:

  • Multichannel DSP amplifiers for a distributed rack — CI 8-120 DSP v2, CI 8-150 DSP v2, CI 16-60 DSP V2. The Custom Install workhorses, with per-channel processing, IP control and 12-volt triggers; the CI 16-60 puts sixteen channels in a 2U chassis. This is the amplification layer under most of what we build on whole-house audio.
  • Multi-zone and centralised amplifiers — CI 720 V2, CI 980, CI PA4-60, CI SA2-120. The CI 720 V2 gives up to six stereo zones in 3U where each zone wants its own amplifier; the CI 980 is eight channels for a centralised layout; the CI SA2-120 covers one room as two channels at 120 watts or four at 60. There is also a CI S2 and an RM 720 rack system in the line.
  • AV surround receivers — T 778 and T 758 V3i. Nine channels and seven channels respectively, both with NAD’s Modular Design Construction card slots and Dirac Live room correction, for a media room that wants one box rather than separates.
  • Surround processor — M17 V2i. The Masters pre/pro, with eleven-point-one balanced XLR outputs, Dirac Live Full Bandwidth and a calibration microphone included, and RS-232 plus 12-volt triggers for control. The separates path for a Dolby Atmos room that does not need the largest channel counts.
  • Power amplifiers — M23 V2, M28, C 298, C 268. The M23 V2 and C 298 use Purifi Eigentakt amplification and the M28 is seven channels of it; the C 268 is HybridDigital UcD. These are the boxes that go behind a processor when the room has earned separates.
  • Streaming and integrated amplifiers — M66, M33 V2, M10 V3, C 700 V2, C 399, C 3050 BluOS. The M66 carries four independent subwoofer outputs and Dirac Live Bass Control; the M33 V2 is 200 watts per channel of second-generation Eigentakt; the M10 V3 and C 399 are HybridDigital nCore; the C 700 V2 and C 3050 are HybridDigital UcD with BluOS built in. The Classic series runs well beyond these — C 389, C 379, C 3030S, C 316BEE V2 and more — and which one suits a listening room is a conversation, not a ranking.
  • MDC2 BluOS-D module. The card that adds BluOS streaming and enables Dirac Live on a C 399, C 389, C 379 or C 3050. Worth knowing about before you buy the amplifier, because on those models Dirac does not run without it.
  • Room correction, in three flavours. Dirac Live Room Correction Limited corrects to 500Hz; Dirac Live Full Bandwidth covers the whole band and ships on the M66 and M17 V2i; Dirac Live Bass Control individually manages multiple subwoofers. Full Bandwidth is a paid upgrade on most models that ship limited. We name the version on the proposal.

We specify and install to order — we do not hold shelf stock, and the model list on your proposal comes off the zone map and the rack drawing rather than off a catalogue page.

How we design the line in

  • Zones first, boxes second. The zone map — where somebody will be standing and what they want to hear there — decides the channel count, and the channel count decides which chassis. Nobody should be choosing an amplifier before the map exists.
  • Source count is the number people forget. Zones are cheap to add and sources are not. Sixteen zones behind two sources means two things can play at once, no matter how many rooms are wired.
  • The rack is drawn before it is built. Rack units, power, airflow and heat are a drawing. Multichannel amplification in a closed cabinet is the most common reason a system starts dropping zones in year two, and it is entirely avoidable at design stage — which is what a rack build is for.
  • Control integration is written, not assumed. IP control, RS-232 and 12-volt triggers exist on these boxes; whether the zones behave like the rest of the house depends on someone writing that. Every zone that matters also gets a keypad, because a system that can only be started from an app quietly stops being used.
  • Correction after the furniture. Dirac runs last, once finishes and seating are in, because hard floors, stone and the two-story volumes common here measure nothing like an empty room. Levels matched zone to zone, equalisation per room, maximum levels sanity-checked.
  • Documented, then supported. What was set and why goes into your portal with the rest of the project record. Every install carries a five-year workmanship warranty from the final invoice; the equipment carries its manufacturer warranty.

Where it sits beside the lines we also carry

NAD is the rack answer for a house that has crossed the zone count where a matrix starts winning. Below that line we are an authorized Sonos dealer and build a streaming amplifier per zone without apology — less hardware, no single point of failure, an app everyone already knows. In a dedicated theater that needs the largest channel counts and a separate correction engine, the conversation moves to Trinnov. And the speakers on the end of it are usually Triad in the ceiling or JBL Synthesis in the theater. We carry all of it, which is why the recommendation can be about the house.

What are NAD’s product series, actually?

Three, and it is worth knowing the names because the internet is full of retired ones. Masters is the flagship series — the M66, M23 V2, M33 V2, M10 V3, M17 V2i and M28. Classic is the broad series that covers most stereo and streaming work, from the C 3050 and C 700 V2 up through the C 399, and it also contains the two AV surround receivers, the T 778 and T 758 V3i. Custom Install, which NAD also calls the CI Series, is the rack line built for installers: multichannel DSP amplifiers, multi-zone amplifiers and rack accessories. There is no "T series" as such, despite what you will read — the T models are Classic products cross-listed into the CI collection.

Which NAD models go in a whole-house audio rack?

The CI Series, almost always. The multichannel DSP amplifiers — CI 8-120 DSP v2, CI 8-150 DSP v2 and CI 16-60 DSP V2, the last of which puts sixteen channels in a 2U chassis — are what drive a distributed system with real per-zone processing. The CI 720 V2 gives up to six stereo zones in 3U where zones want their own amplifier rather than a shared one, the CI 980 is an eight-channel amplifier for centralised layouts, and the CI SA2-120 covers a single room that needs two channels at 120 watts or four at 60. Whether your house wants any of this, or a streaming amplifier per zone instead, is the real question and the honest boundary is around six to eight zones — that argument is on our whole-house audio page.

Do NAD products do room correction? What is Dirac Live?

Yes, and the detail matters more than the name. Dirac Live is measurement-based room correction, and NAD ships it in three different forms. Dirac Live Room Correction Limited corrects up to 500Hz and comes with several models, including the T 778, M10 V3, M33 V2 and C 3050 BluOS. Dirac Live Full Bandwidth analyses the whole frequency band and is included with the M66 and the M17 V2i, and offered as a paid upgrade on most models that ship with the limited version. Dirac Live Bass Control, for individually controlling multiple subwoofers, is on the M66 with its four independent subwoofer outputs and available as an optional licence on the M10 V3 and M33 V2. One trap worth naming: on the C 399, C 389, C 379 and C 3050 the MDC2 BluOS-D card has to be installed before Dirac runs at all. Will NAD work with my Control4 or Crestron system?

Yes, and that is a large part of why we specify it. NAD publishes an open API and control integration for Control4, Crestron and RTI among others, and its CI amplifiers carry IP control, 12-volt triggers and signal sense, with RS-232 on the M17 V2i and C 399. In practice that means the amplifier is not a box with its own app: zones appear in your existing Control4 or Crestron interface, a lighting scene can take the music with it, and the system answers to the keypad on the wall rather than only to a phone. We are a Control4 Platinum Dealer with a Control4 Certified Showroom and a Crestron Elite Partner with programming done in house, so that integration is written rather than assembled from defaults.

What is BluOS, and do I need it?

BluOS is the streaming and multi-room platform NAD builds on — developed by its sister brand Bluesound — and it is what lets a NAD amplifier be a source as well as an amplifier, grouped across zones. It is built into models like the C 700 V2, M66 and M10 V3, and it can be added to a C 399, C 389, C 379 or C 3050 later through the MDC2 BluOS-D module, which is also the card that enables Dirac. Whether you need it depends on what is already in the house: if the sources live in a Control4 or Crestron matrix, BluOS is a convenience rather than the architecture. If the amplifier IS the system, it is the reason to buy that amplifier. We will tell you which case you are in.

Why does NAD keep coming up for upgradeable systems?

Because of Modular Design Construction. NAD puts card slots in the chassis — MDC on the T 778, T 758 V3i and M17 V2i, and the newer MDC2 on the Classic stereo models, with dual slots on the C 399 — so a format change or a streaming platform can be a card rather than a replacement. We are careful not to oversell that: a slot is not a guarantee that a card you want will exist in five years, and we have never recommended a box on the strength of a slot alone. But in a rack that is built into the house, a chassis designed to be opened is a real difference from one designed to be thrown away, and it is the reason this line shows up in systems that have to survive a decade.
