Audio and video
The whole house on one command.
Whole-home audio matrix via Sonos, Triad, or in-house DSP. Video distribution from a central rack to any TV in the house (4K HDR, no transcoding). Dolby Atmos theaters with one-button scene activation — projector, screen, lighting, AVR, source — all on a single command.
Security and entry
The front door, on the kitchen counter.
Lock state, alarm state, camera feeds, doorbell — all surfaced in the Control4 app. DoorBird intercom integration so the front door rings the touch panel; you answer from the kitchen. Geofencing arms the system when the last device leaves the property.

The cheapest smart home is a consumer hub, an extension cord, and a closet full of cloud accounts that get deprecated every three years. Control4 is the opposite philosophy. Wired backbone, professional commissioning, programming your dealer owns and can modify ten years from now.

Cat6 to every device that can take it, dedicated power, network-segmented from your laptop traffic. Wi-Fi-only systems start unreliable and degrade. A wired Control4 install behaves the same in year ten as in year one.

Control4 in Kansas City
The 1990s Johnson County two-story.
The late-1980s and 1990s two-stories across Johnson County are a familiar Control4 house. They share a floor plan: a two-story entry, a kitchen open to a hearth room, bedrooms upstairs, and a basement that was finished a decade after the house was built.
That basement is why the retrofit works. The joists are usually still open in the mechanical room, so a rack lands near where the original builder put the phone board, and new cable climbs a chase to the second floor without opening finished ceilings. Where a wall cannot be opened, RadioRA 3 keypads take the place of the switch and the scene fires the same way. Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa and Shawnee houses of that era are close to interchangeable in this respect. Common questions
Can one Control4 button run the lights, shades and projector in my golf simulator room?
Yes, and it is a scene rather than a gadget. The projector, the shades, the lighting, the audio and the simulator PC each have to be reachable by the controller, on a driver, a relay, a serial port or the network; then one keypad button or app tile fires them in the right order and puts the lights back up when the room shuts down. IntegrateIT programs that scene into Overland Park simulator rooms as part of the build, so a second press turns the same room into a theater.
What is Control4?
Control4 is a residential automation platform. One controller (the EA-5 or CA-10 at the core) routes commands from a single app, wall touch panels and Pico-style keypads to every subsystem in the home — lighting, shades, HVAC, audio, video, security, irrigation, pool, climate. The promise is one button or one phrase replacing fifteen apps and twelve remotes.
How much does Control4 cost?
A working Control4 system is priced from the house, not a menu: how many systems join, how many rooms they reach, and whether the home is under construction. The platform itself isn't the cost driver — the count of integrated devices is. Daniel gives a fixed number after a no-cost site walk, not a range by email. Control4 vs an Echo or Google Home setup — what's the actual difference?
Three things. (1) Reliability: Control4 runs on a local controller, not the cloud, so it works when your internet doesn't. (2) Device support: thousands of certified drivers for hardware no consumer hub touches — Lutron, Crestron lighting, Sonos, Sony projectors, Samsung TVs, Trinnov processors, DoorBird intercoms, Ubiquiti networking, Coastal Source amplifiers. (3) Design: scenes, lighting palettes, video distribution, multi-room audio orchestration done by a dealer who programs your home, not you configuring Alexa routines at 11pm.
What does "Platinum dealer" mean?
Control4 ranks its dealers by the volume of business they do with Control4 — Authorized, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Platinum is the second-highest of the four; it is a volume tier, not a quality score. IntegrateIT is a Platinum dealer with a Control4 Certified Showroom.
Can Control4 work with Lutron lighting?
Yes — and this is a standard architecture for us. Lutron HomeWorks or RadioRA 3 runs the actual lighting and shades; Control4 sits above it as the unified control layer. Daniel will recommend this stack on any project where lighting is a primary concern — light is the most-touched system in a house.
How long does a Control4 install take?
New construction: 4-8 weeks from rough-in to commissioning, paralleling the general construction schedule. Retrofit in a finished home: 2-4 weeks for full whole-home, less for room-by-room phasing. We hand over an owner's binder and recorded walkthroughs at handoff.
Is Control4 the right choice for my home?
Generally yes, for a home planning whole-home automation. For a bespoke estate where the architect is specifying every interface, Crestron or a Control4-over-Crestron hybrid may fit better; for a single room, an off-the-shelf hub may be enough. Can I add voice control to Control4?
Yes. IntegrateIT is an authorized Josh.ai dealer, and Josh.ai is the voice layer we put on a Control4 system when a client wants natural-language control that the integrator configures room by room, instead of a consumer voice account. Alexa and Google Assistant also work with Control4 through their drivers. Either way the voice layer sits on top of the same locally running controller that runs the keypads, scenes and shades, so the house keeps working when the voice service does not.
