Sonus faber loudspeakers · Kansas City.

IntegrateIT carries and installs Sonus faber across the Kansas City metro — loudspeakers from an Italian maker, built as furniture as much as equipment, from a pair of bookshelf speakers in a living room to an Arena or Palladio system in a theater. One precision first, because the trade is sloppy about this word: Sonus faber is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized Sonus faber dealer. What we are is the people who pick the model and the finish against the room, put the speakers where the drawing says and tune them once the furniture is in. Phone: (913) 804-7575 or office@integrateit.tech.

The useful thing to know before any model name: with Sonus faber the visible design is part of the brief. Its Sonetto G2 page describes lute-shaped speakers with wood cabinets, and its Lumina page describes straightforward, square-shaped designs where the quality of the materials shows. A speaker like that is chosen for the room it will be seen in as well as heard in, so the finish, the grille and the position go on the drawing before the order is placed.

What we carry and install from Sonus faber

Sonus faber lists its speakers by collection on its collections page, each with a one-line description, and sorts them by type — floorstanding, bookshelf, wireless, centre channel, subwoofer and on-wall. These are the families we specify here, named the way Sonus faber names them.

  • Lumina. The Lumina collection lists Lumina I, Lumina II, Lumina III, Lumina V and Lumina CI on its technical drawings. Sonus faber says it works for stereo music and for multi-channel film and TV, which makes it a sensible answer for a living room that is also a media room.
  • Sonetto G2. The second generation of the Sonetto collection, in bookshelf, floorstanding, centre-channel and wall versions. Sonus faber describes a custom-engineered driver for the collection, a cork internal chamber and a concrete base under the wood cabinet for stability and vibration control.
  • Arena — the custom-installation collection. Arena 30, Arena 10 and Arena S15 on the collection page, with an Arena 20 in-wall model shown elsewhere on the site. Sonus faber calls it a home cinema system that combines the seamless appeal of custom installation with its Natural Sound, and says it is handcrafted in Italy. This is the family for a home theater that has to disappear into the architecture.
  • Palladio. Named for the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, with Palladio Level 5 and Palladio Level 6 named on its page. Sonus faber describes it as a collection for home theater and multi-room setups, which puts it in the conversation for a whole-house audio system.
  • Gravis. Five active subwoofers, Gravis I, Gravis II, Gravis III, Gravis V and Gravis VI, and a wireless transmitter. Placement is measured in the room, and in a larger room it can be more than one position; see home theater calibration.
  • Reference, Homage, Olympica Nova and Heritage. Sonus faber lists these as collections beside the ones above. They are the collections to ask about when the room is built around listening, and we quote them from a site walk and a measured room rather than from a catalogue page.
  • Wireless and outdoors. Sonus faber lists a Wireless collection and an outdoor collection called Aster, described on its collections page as bringing Natural Sound outdoors. For a Kansas City patio we check the exposure rating the maker publishes for the exact model before drawing it in; see outdoor audio.

How we put Sonus faber into a room

  • Finish and position on the drawing. The cabinet is seen every day, so finish, grille and the distance from the wall are agreed before the order, against the furniture plan, not on delivery day.
  • Openings and cable at rough-in. For Arena in-wall models and any speaker on a bracket, cut-out size, depth and cable path are checked against the maker’s published specification for the exact model, as part of the pre-wire. Speaker cable is home-run to the rack and labelled at both ends.
  • Amplification sized to the speaker. Impedance, channel count and rack ventilation are decided with the rack, so a good speaker is not starved or cooked by the amplifier behind it.
  • Tuned after the furniture. Levels matched zone to zone, subwoofers measured, the room corrected once the rug and sofa are in. Hard floors and big glass make bright rooms; the tuning follows what the room actually does.
  • One control surface, one record. The speakers sit behind a keypad or an app on a Control4 or Crestron system we design and program, and model numbers, wire labels and settings land in your portal with the project record.

Where Sonus faber sits beside the other lines we carry

Sonus faber is the choice when the speaker is meant to be seen, and its finish is part of the interior. KEF is the point-source alternative, with a ceiling range alongside the hi-fi one. Bowers & Wilkins is the answer when the brief is one maker from the listening room to the laundry. In a dedicated reference theater the comparison is Wisdom Audio. The recommendation comes off the room and the seating rather than the catalogue.

Common questions

Who installs Sonus faber in Kansas City?

IntegrateIT (Overland Park, KS) carries and installs Sonus faber across the Kansas City metro — living rooms, listening rooms and theaters on both sides of the state line, from Overland Park and Leawood to Mission Hills and out to Lee’s Summit. To be precise about the relationship, because the trade is sloppy about this word: Sonus faber is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized Sonus faber dealer. What we do is walk the room, specify the speakers, install and commission them, and document the result. Phone: (913) 804-7575 or office@integrateit.tech.

Which Sonus faber collection suits a living room?

Lumina and Sonetto G2 are the two that Sonus faber describes in living-room terms. Lumina is square-shaped and plain, and Sonus faber says it works for both stereo music and multi-channel film and TV. Sonetto G2 is lute-shaped, with wood cabinets, and comes in bookshelf, floorstanding, centre-channel and wall versions. The choice between them is mostly a matter of what the room looks like and where the speakers can stand, which is why we ask for photographs and a furniture plan before suggesting either.

Can Sonus faber be part of a home theater?

Yes. Arena is the collection Sonus faber describes as a home cinema system built on custom installation: Arena 30, Arena 10 and Arena S15, with an Arena 20 in-wall model shown on the site. Palladio is described as a collection for home theater and multi-room setups, with Palladio Level 5 and Level 6 named on its page. Gravis provides the low end, with five active subwoofers, Gravis I, II, III, V and VI. Which of them a room gets depends on whether the speakers can be seen, where the screen is and how many seats there are.

Does Sonus faber make in-wall or outdoor speakers?

Sonus faber lists an Arena in-wall model and describes its custom-installation range as in-wall, in-ceiling and on-wall. It also lists an outdoor collection called Aster. We specify any of them against the opening size, depth and exposure the maker publishes for the exact model, and for a covered patio or a pool house we confirm the rating before the speaker goes on the drawing.

What does the finish decide?

More than people expect, because a Sonus faber speaker is a visible object. Finish, grille and the distance from the wall change both how the room looks and how the speaker sounds, so we settle them on the drawing against the furniture plan. A speaker pushed against a wall to make a sofa fit gets more bass from the wall than anyone planned.

What does an install involve, and what happens afterwards?

A site walk first: where people sit, what the walls and floors are made of, where the cable can run and where the rack goes. Then the drawing, then installation, then commissioning — levels matched, subwoofers measured, the room corrected after the furniture arrives — and documentation with model numbers, wire labels and settings. Our installation carries a five-year workmanship warranty from the final invoice; whatever warranty Sonus faber gives on its own hardware is Sonus faber’s to state.
