IntegrateIT carries and installs Ubiquiti UniFi across the Kansas City metro — the gateway, the switching, ceiling-mounted Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, and the cameras and door readers that share the same console. One precision first, because the trade is sloppy about this word: Ubiquiti is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold a dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized Ubiquiti dealer. What we are is the people who count the devices, find the cable paths, put the radios on the right ceilings and tune them afterwards — which is where a UniFi network is either good or merely present. What UniFi is, and why we land on it for houses

UniFi is Ubiquiti’s family of network equipment run from one console: the gateway, the switches, the access points, the cameras and the door readers all appear in the same place and are managed the same way. The reasons we land on it for a house are practical rather than ideological. There is no annual license per access point, so the features a home relies on are not gated behind a renewal. The current generation covers Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, and the outdoor and in-wall form factors mean a pool house or a bank of bedrooms gets the right shape of radio rather than a compromise. And because one console covers the whole stack, the network, the cameras and the readers are one system rather than three logins.

The caveat is worth stating on the page that recommends it. UniFi is easy enough to buy that it gets assembled by people who skip the design, and an unwired, untuned UniFi network is a mediocre network on any brand. A wired three-access-point design in the right ceilings will beat an unwired six-access-point deployment of anything. The brand is the fifth decision, after the cable, the placement, the switch and the tuning.

The design is the product

• Wired, on a ceiling, in the middle of the room. Every access point gets a cable to a managed PoE switch, which is what lets it live where the coverage is needed rather than near an outlet at the edge of the room. A mesh node that relays instead puts the same packet into the air twice and roughly halves the throughput at that node, exactly when the house is busiest.
• Counted by room, not by square footage. One per roughly 2,500 square feet is where the count starts, and the building corrects it upward here more often than not: a walkout lower level, plaster over wire lath, the foil-faced insulation common in Johnson County construction. Every detached structure is its own count. An outdoor space you actually use is a coverage zone with a rated outdoor radio.
• A PoE budget honestly counted. Access points, cameras and readers share one switch, and a higher-tier Wi-Fi 7 radio with a multi-gig uplink wants more power at the port than an older one. We size the switch for the whole rack, with headroom, rather than per device.
• Four lanes, on the way in. Main, IoT, Guest and Cameras. IoT cannot reach Main, Guest is isolated behind a captive portal, Cameras have no internet egress. Retrofitting that onto a live house means re-onboarding every smart device by hand; doing it during the install is configuration rather than construction.
• Furniture off the air. Televisions, streaming boxes, consoles, the camera recorder and the automation controller are all wireable, and every one left on wireless competes for airtime with the devices that have no choice.
• Tuned, then measured again. Transmit power, channel widths and roaming thresholds are the difference between a correctly specified network that feels wrong and one that feels invisible. Then the worst room is measured a second time, and the network is remote-monitored afterwards so we see it drop before you do.

What we install

• UniFi UDM Pro or Pro Max gateway. Enterprise-grade routing in a residential form factor: VLANs, VPN, intrusion detection, full traffic insight.
• Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, ceiling-mounted and wired. U6-Pro, U7-Pro and U7-Pro Max, with full coverage of the 6 GHz band and multi-link operation on Wi-Fi 7.
• Outdoor radios. U6-Mesh and U7-Outdoor for backyards, pool houses and garages, on the same console as the house.
• Managed PoE switching. UniFi switches sized to the house, with a budget that covers access points, cameras, access readers and signage on one rack.
• Cameras recording on site. 4K UniFi cameras to a recorder in your mechanical room, with no monthly cloud subscription, on the camera lane that has no internet egress. The coverage plan itself is on our residential surveillance page.

• Structured cabling under all of it. Cat6A to every access-point location and IoT zone, properly terminated and certified, and a rack the next person can read.

What we are not, so the recommendation reads honestly

We hold no dealer agreement on any networking line, Ubiquiti included, so the recommendation is not a function of margin. We keep the cable you already own when it tests clean, the coax in the walls, the fibre terminal from your provider and any conduit somebody was smart enough to leave, and we replace the layer that is actually failing rather than the whole rack. And there are cases where mesh is still the right call — a rental, an outbuilding where the trench is disproportionate to the need, a house you are leaving inside two years — which we would rather say on the walk than sell around.
