REL Acoustics subwoofers · Kansas City.
IntegrateIT carries and installs REL Acoustics across the Kansas City metro — subwoofers for a music room or a home theater, with the connection, placement and calibration that decide whether the bass sounds like part of the system or like a box in the corner. One precision first: REL Acoustics is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized REL Acoustics dealer. What we are is the people who choose the right model for the room, connect and place it, calibrate it, and commission what we install. Phone: (913) 804-7575 or office@integrateit.tech.
What we carry and install from REL Acoustics
REL presents itself as a maker of subwoofers and high-fidelity home audio operating since 1990, and its site sorts the range into subwoofers, accessories and room-planning tools. The series below are the ones listed on REL’s own site, in its own spelling; we specify, install and commission to order.
- Reference Series. The REL Reference Series, whose models REL names as the No.31, No.32, No.35 and No.36. REL lists it first on its subwoofer menu; whether a room needs it is a question of size and system.
- Serie S. The S/510, S/550 and S/850. REL positions the Serie S for higher-end systems in medium to large rooms, which is how we use it: size of room first, then the model.
- Planar. The REL Planar series, which REL describes as using the wall itself to deliver bass from an ultra-thin form. REL lists a Planar Cart accessory beside it. It is the series to look at when floor space is the constraint.
- Classic. Listed by REL for anyone who owns and loves vintage audio gear, and the page names the Classic 99. A vintage amplifier is a connection question as much as a subwoofer one, and we check what it offers before we choose.
- Serie T/x and Serie T. REL names the T/7x and T/9x. REL describes the Serie T/x as a full upgrade; we measure before we say whether a swap is worth doing.
- Serie HT. REL’s home theater series, with the HT/1205 MKII and the HT/1510 Predator named on its page. This is the series to read first for our home theater and Dolby Atmos designs, where a second subwoofer in a different position is often worth considering.
- Wireless and cable accessories. REL lists two .1/LFE subwoofer cables, the Commander and the Commodore, and three wireless accessories, the Airship Direct, the Arrow Wireless and the HT-Air MKII Wireless, along with the Bassline Blue accessories. Which of them a room needs is a cabling question that we settle at design.
- Room-planning tools. REL’s site offers a Comparison Tool, a Speaker Pairing Tool and a Room Setup Tool. They are a reasonable place for a homeowner to start; the site walk replaces them with measurements of your room.
How we put REL into a room
A subwoofer is the one speaker in the house that the room, the amplifier and the cable all decide at once. These are the parts of the job that make a REL behave.
- Pair it to the speakers and the room. We choose the series by the size of the room, the listening distance and what the main speakers do on their own, not by the catalogue order. REL publishes a Speaker Pairing Tool; we start from our own site walk.
- The connection is a decision. REL lists .1/LFE cables and wireless accessories, and a system without a subwoofer output may allow a feed from the amplifier’s speaker terminals if the model takes one. We check the model’s inputs and the amplifier’s outputs before we choose, and pull the cable at rough-in on a new build.
- Place it and set the level by measurement. We try positions, measure at the seats and set the level so the subwoofer is noticed only when it is switched off. That is the work behind our home theater calibration visits.
- Treat the room if the room is the problem. Bass that still misbehaves after placement is usually the room, and a second subwoofer or some treatment fixes it where a bigger one will not. See theater acoustic treatment.
- Documentation. Model and serial numbers, positions, level and crossover settings and the connection used land in your portal with the rest of the project record, so a later change starts from what was measured.
Where REL Acoustics sits beside the other lines we carry
REL Acoustics is a subwoofer specialist, so the comparisons are with the other bass we carry. SVS lists sealed, ported and cylinder subwoofers and an in-wall model, and speakers as well, so it is the one to read when a room wants its bass and its loudspeakers from one catalogue. MartinLogan covers its powered subwoofers beside its electrostatic loudspeakers, which suits a room built around those panels. And when the subwoofer has to disappear into the architecture, Triad lists in-wall, in-ceiling and in-room models.
Common questions
Who installs REL subwoofers in Kansas City?
IntegrateIT (Overland Park, KS) carries and installs REL Acoustics across the Kansas City metro — music rooms, home theaters and media rooms on both sides of the state line, from Leawood and Prairie Village out to Lee’s Summit. To be precise about the relationship, because the trade is sloppy about this word: REL Acoustics is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized REL Acoustics dealer. What we do is choose, connect, place and calibrate the bass in the room. Phone: (913) 804-7575 or office@integrateit.tech.
What are the REL subwoofer series?
REL’s site lists the Reference Series, Serie S, Planar, Classic, Serie T/x, Serie HT and Serie T. It describes the Serie S as for medium to large rooms, the Planar as an ultra-thin form that uses the wall, the Classic as for owners of vintage gear, the Serie T/x as a full upgrade and the Serie HT as its home theater series. The page names models in several of them, among them the No.36, S/850, HT/1510 Predator, T/9x and Classic 99. Which series fits is decided by the room and the system, and we say so rather than steering to the biggest.
How is a REL subwoofer connected to the system?
It depends on the system. REL lists .1/LFE subwoofer cables, the Commander and the Commodore, and wireless accessories, the Airship Direct, Arrow Wireless and HT-Air MKII Wireless, so a line-level or wireless connection is part of its range. Where a system has no subwoofer output, a feed from the amplifier’s speaker terminals can be an option on a model that takes one. We check the model’s inputs and the amplifier’s outputs before we choose, and on a new build we pull the cable at rough-in.
Does a REL belong in a music system or a home theater?
Either. REL lists the Serie HT as its home theater series and describes the others by room size, wall mounting, vintage gear or upgrade, and the difference in a room is mostly the connection and the calibration. A music room wants the subwoofer to blend with a pair of speakers; a theater wants it to carry the effects channel and usually wants a second one. We design for how the room is actually used.
Can a REL subwoofer be hidden?
Partly. REL describes the Planar as an ultra-thin form that uses the wall, so it takes much less floor than a box. The other series are boxes, and a box can sit beside or behind furniture if the room lets the bass out. For a subwoofer that disappears into the wall or ceiling, our Triad page lists in-wall and in-ceiling models, and we will tell you which route fits the room.
What happens after the install?
The subwoofer is placed, calibrated and written into your portal: model and serial numbers, position, the connection used, and the level and crossover settings. Every install carries our five-year workmanship warranty from the final invoice. If the room changes — new furniture, a finished basement — we come back and measure again rather than leaving you to guess.
Tell us the room and the speakers. The bass follows.
