★Carried & Installed
Fortress Seating home theater chairs · Kansas City.
IntegrateIT carries and installs Fortress Seating across the Kansas City metro — home theater chairs built to the order, loungers and sofas for a media room, and the accessories that make a row of seats part of the room’s electronics. One precision first, because the trade is sloppy about this word: Fortress Seating is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized Fortress Seating dealer. What we are is the people who draw the room before the chairs are ordered, run the power and data to every seat, and put the seats in place once the room is finished. What we carry and install from Fortress Seating
Fortress Seating sorts its range into home theater seating, media room seating and contract seating. The model and accessory names below are Fortress’s own, as its pages spell them. Fortress describes its home theater seating as developed for dedicated and non-dedicated rooms, and says it builds each chair according to the order. We specify, install and commission to order, and the room is drawn before a model is picked.
- Home theater chair models. Fortress lists its theater chairs by name, among them Airflo, Bel Aire, Bijou, Cinemilano, Hudson, Madison, Matinee, Nova, Odéon, Palladium, Pantages, Solo and West End. Each model has its own page on Fortress’s site. The drawing, not the model name, decides which one goes into our home theater plans.
- Built to the order. Fortress says it builds each chair according to the order, so seating can be fitted to each customer, and that customers have had chairs made in different sizes. What is possible on a given model is Fortress’s to confirm on the order. We raise sizes, row widths and clearances at the drawing stage so the question is asked once.
- Media room seating. Fortress lists Loungers & Chaises, Sofas & Sectionals and Custom for the room that is also a living room. It is the part of the range that fits a media room where the seating has to look at home when the screen is off.
- Mechanisms and motorization. Fortress offers motorization on several mechanisms, including reclining, seat height, lifts and lumbar support, with swivel and rocker mechanisms also available. Anything motorized needs power at the seat, which is a wiring decision made while the floor is still open.
- Smart Chair Technology. Fortress describes it as connecting with home automation and control systems, with occupancy sensors and preset seating positions, available in all models. We confirm on the specific model which systems it connects to before it goes on the drawing, and bring it into the room’s scenes through our home automation work where it does.
- Arms, cup holders, tables and storage. Pocket & Retractable Arms, which Fortress describes as a fully upholstered, stationary housing between two chair backs that makes a row look like a sofa; cup holders in concealed, front-access, tilt-out, lighted and cooling styles; tray tables and inset table tops; touch screen mounts; and storage with hinged or sliding drawers. Fortress also lists dress elements such as nailheads, embroidered logos, piping, fringe, tufting and custom wood feet, plus data and power port integration, aisle lights and reading lights.
- Contract seating. Fortress also lists Executive Seating and Healthcare Seating. Where a boardroom or conference room we are already wiring wants executive seating, we specify it with the room as part of our commercial AV scope.
How we put Fortress Seating into a room
Seating is the part of a theater people touch, and a part that is easy to decide too late. These are the steps that keep it from being that.
- The room is drawn first. Screen size, viewing distance, riser height, row depth and aisle width go on one drawing, with the chair footprint and recline clearance from the model’s own information. Custom sizing, where Fortress offers it, is decided at this stage.
- Power and data to every seat. Motorized mechanisms, lighted cup holders, aisle lights, reading lights and data or power ports all want a feed at the seat. We run it while the riser is open and label every run, so a seat can be moved or replaced without a search.
- Control decided on the model. If Smart Chair Technology is wanted, we confirm the control path on the chosen model, then program preset positions into the room’s scenes where it is supported. Our smart home automation scope covers the programming.
- Seats are part of the acoustic plan. A row of chairs is the largest soft surface in the room. We set the seating and the room’s acoustic treatment together rather than one after the other.
- Documentation is the deliverable. Model, configuration, options and feed locations go into your portal with the rest of the project record, so adding a seat later is an order, not an investigation.
Where Fortress Seating sits beside the other lines we carry
Fortress Seating is the answer when the brief is a chair built to an order with a long accessory list, including custom sizes and pocket arms. Cinematech is worth reading when the plan wants a swivel chair or acoustic wall fabric from the same maker, and Elite HTS when the front row is a theater bed or a sectional. Cineak is the one to read for Belgian-built, made-to-order seating with motorized headrests and lumbar support. We draw the room before we recommend one.
Common questions
Who installs Fortress Seating chairs in Kansas City?
IntegrateIT (Overland Park, KS) carries and installs Fortress Seating across the Kansas City metro — dedicated theaters and media rooms in Johnson County and Kansas City, Missouri, and larger properties out to Lee’s Summit. To be precise about the relationship, because the trade is sloppy about this word: Fortress Seating is a line we carry and install under distribution, not one we hold our own dealer agreement on, so we do not call ourselves an authorized Fortress Seating dealer. We specify, install and commission Fortress Seating chairs to order. Phone: (913) 804-7575 or office@integrateit.tech.
What does Fortress Seating make besides theater chairs?
Fortress lists three groupings: home theater seating, media room seating and contract seating. Media room seating is Loungers & Chaises, Sofas & Sectionals and Custom. Contract seating is Executive Seating and Healthcare Seating. The home theater side also has accessories, which is where the cup holders, tables, arms, storage and Smart Chair Technology sit.
Can Fortress make a chair in a custom size?
Fortress says it builds each chair according to the order and that customers have had chairs made in different sizes. What is possible on a particular model is for Fortress to confirm on the order, so we raise the dimensions at the drawing stage — the row width, the riser depth and the recline clearance — and put the question to Fortress before a model is committed to.
What is Smart Chair Technology?
It is Fortress’s own name for seating that connects with home automation and control systems and includes occupancy sensors and preset seating positions, which Fortress says is available in all models. Which control systems a given model connects to is the thing to confirm before it is drawn. We check that on the model and program the presets into the room’s scenes where it is supported.
Do Fortress theater chairs need power at each seat?
Anything motorized does. Fortress offers motorization on reclining, seat height, lifts and lumbar support, and lists lighted cup holders, aisle lights, reading lights and data and power ports among its accessories. We plan the feeds with the seat count and run them while the riser is open, because a floor that has been closed is a much more expensive place to add an outlet.
What does a Fortress Seating install involve, and what happens afterwards?
A site walk first, then the room drawn with screen, rows, riser, power and data. Then the specification in writing — model, size, mechanism, accessories — before anything is ordered, because each chair is built to the order. Then installation and commissioning: chairs placed, motorization tested, presets set where supported. Model, options and feed locations are recorded with the rest of the project. Our installation carries a five-year workmanship warranty from the final invoice.
