Sonance Invisible Series · Kansas City.

IntegrateIT is an authorized Sonance dealer installing the Invisible Series (IS2, IS4, IS8) across Leawood, Overland Park and the Kansas City metro, and the cost of an invisible install is mostly labor rather than speaker: the driver mounts inside the wall cavity, and the skim-coat, primer and paint sequence over it is coordinated work. How many rooms go invisible, and whether it is new construction or a retrofit, set the number. These are speakers that mount behind drywall and disappear entirely, mostly on architect-led builds. The dealer agreement is our own. Based in Overland Park, Kansas. We take the room from schematic design through rough-in and the finish sequence the drivers depend on, then tune them in place. We coordinate directly with your interior designer, architect and builder so the speakers integrate cleanly into the wall finish. Daniel Alon designs every system. Call (913) 804-7575.

Why architects and designers specify Sonance Invisible

  • Zero visual footprint. Once skim-coated and painted, the IS speaker is invisible. No grille, no bezel. Ceilings, walls, and millwork stay as the architect drew them.
  • Acoustically transparent finish. Sonance ships with a proprietary skim-coat compound that lets sound pass through without colorization. Painted to match the wall in any finish (flat, eggshell, satin).
  • Coordinated rough-in. We meet with the framing crew, drywaller and painter to sequence the install. The back-cans land during framing, speakers go in after rocker and tape, skim coat happens before primer.
  • Multi-brand ecosystem fit. The IS speakers integrate with Control4, Crestron, Sonos, or a standalone amp and Lutron HomeWorks lighting scene controller. Whatever the control plane, IS works.

What we pair Sonance Invisible with

  • NAD Electronics amplification. Invisible drivers need honest power and clean equalization to sound like speakers rather than like walls.
  • Control4 or Crestron as the control layer. The speakers vanish, so the interface has to be a keypad or an app rather than a box on a shelf.
  • Triad in-ceiling in the rooms that do not need to disappear. Invisible where the design demands it, conventional in-ceiling elsewhere, one system across both.
  • Coastal Source the moment you step outside. The same one-trade design carried from the great room out to the patio and the planting beds.
  • Sonos as the source layer. The family keeps the app it already uses; the drivers behind the drywall do the work.

Common questions

What is the Sonance Invisible Series?

Sonance Invisible Series (IS2, IS4, IS8) is a speaker line designed to mount inside the wall cavity behind drywall — once skim-coated and painted, the speaker is acoustically transparent but visually invisible. No grille, no bezel, no visible hardware. The IS2 sits behind 1/4"-1/2" of skim-coat compound; the larger IS4 and IS8 require a thicker compound layer. Used in spaces where the design intent is "no visible electronics" — gallery-style great rooms, primary suites, theaters with millwork ceilings.

What does a Sonance Invisible install cost in a Leawood home?

It is priced by room and by finish work, not by the speaker. The invisible premium over a grilled in-ceiling speaker is almost entirely labor: the IS driver sits in the cavity, and the drywall crew’s skim coat, primer and paint have to be sequenced around it. Room count, and whether the walls are open or have to be opened and refinished, decide the rest. IntegrateIT gives one fixed price after a no-cost site walk.

Why pick invisible speakers over in-ceiling or in-wall with grilles?

Two reasons. (1) Design intent — interior designers and architects increasingly specify "no visible electronics" as a non-negotiable, and IS speakers solve it. (2) Acoustic — IS speakers vent through the wall cavity itself, which can sound surprisingly good.

Do you coordinate with my interior designer or architect on Sonance Invisible installs?

Yes — this is one of the projects that genuinely requires the design team in the room. The IS speaker locations need to align with the wall framing, the electrical rough-in needs to leave space for the back-can, and the drywall sequence matters: rock, tape, speakers in, skim coat, primer. We do design-development meetings with the architect, interior designer and builder so the IS speakers integrate cleanly. We also handle Lutron Caseta or HomeWorks lighting design alongside, which is usually being specified at the same time.

Can you install Sonance Invisible in an existing home, or only new construction?

Both, but the workflow differs. New construction is ideal — we run the wiring and place the back-cans during the framing phase, the rocker finishes around them. Retrofit installs require cutting and patching drywall around each speaker location; the patch lands flush with the IS skim-coat finish so the cosmetic outcome is identical to new construction. Retrofit adds patching labor at each speaker, but the end result is the same.
