West Palm Beach · Intracoastal corridor
West Palm Beach · waterfront systems, built for the coast.
West Palm Beach holds the mainland side of the Intracoastal Waterway, and its housing is far more varied than the island across it. Historic districts such as El Cid, Flamingo Park and Northwood carry nineteen-twenties bungalows and Mediterranean Revival houses on small lots; SoSo and the neighborhoods south of downtown mix midcentury with rebuilds; downtown adds condominium towers with water views. Concrete-block construction, impact glass and salt-laden air are common to all of it. We work Palm Beach County from Overland Park on scheduled trips, sequenced so each visit completes a phase.
Installing in West Palm Beach
What is different about West Palm Beach houses
Installing in West Palm Beach is different because two building types sit blocks apart. A historic-district bungalow is masonry with plaster and a shallow attic, which pushes cable into ceilings and closets and pushes lighting toward wireless Lutron. A downtown tower unit is concrete with no vertical path at all and an association calendar governing the schedule. Same city, opposite methods. We settle which one you have on the walk, before anything is priced, because the wrong assumption is what turns a clean project into patched plaster.
Older neighborhoods here also have older services. Homes built in the twenties were not wired for the electrical load of a modern kitchen plus a rack plus a pool system, and generator installs are common on this coast. We coordinate the low-voltage side with whatever the electrician is doing rather than after, get the rack on clean, conditioned power, and sequence equipment so a generator transfer does not leave the control processor confused. It is unglamorous work that decides whether the system comes back up by itself.
Water-facing glass is the design driver on both sides of the market. Intracoastal exposure means heat, glare and hurricane shutters that have to coexist with shade pockets and motor power. We set fabric openness by orientation, run shade power during rough electrical when we can reach it, and keep exterior speaker and camera hardware to marine-rated lines. Where an owner wants the view untouched, invisible speakers and concealed displays do more for the room than any amount of hardware on the wall.

Questions from West Palm Beach homeowners
Do you serve both the historic districts and the downtown towers?
- Yes, and we approach them differently. Bungalow and Mediterranean houses in the historic neighborhoods are masonry retrofits, so ceilings and closets carry the cable and lighting goes wireless. Tower residences are governed by the association and the freight elevator, so gear is staged in advance and the loud work is compressed into the reserved window. We tell you which project you have before a proposal is written.
How does a Kansas company keep a Florida project on schedule?
- Palm Beach County work is booked as concentrated trips tied to your build, not to our calendar. Each visit is planned to finish a phase, whether that is the walk, the rough-in or commissioning and training. Between trips the system is monitored remotely and coordination with the builder continues. Daniel designs the system and walks the project himself rather than sending a checklist.
Our nineteen-twenties house has plaster walls. Will you tear them up?
- No. On masonry-and-plaster houses we take cable through ceilings, closets and existing chases, and use wireless lighting where fishing a switch leg would mean opening a wall. Anything that genuinely needs an opening is identified on the walk, shown to you, and agreed before work starts. If a run is not realistic we say so instead of trying it and patching afterward.
What holds up in salt air here?
- Equipment kept inside conditioned space, and marine-grade specification for anything that is not. We do not put racks in garages or unvented closets on this coast, and outdoor speakers, cameras and mounts come from lines built for the environment. Terminations are protected. Heat matters as much as salt, so racks are sized for airflow and monitored so a failing fan is caught early.
