What is different about Fort Lauderdale houses
Installing here is different because the water is on the back side of the house. A canal-front property has a dock, a pool deck and a seawall that the owner uses constantly, and all three want audio, lighting and camera coverage. That means outdoor-rated cable in conduit, marine-grade hardware, and fittings chosen because salt attacks connections long before it attacks a speaker cone. We plan the exterior runs during design, since the yard is the hardest part to add to later.
Construction changes the routing. Concrete block with stucco is common in older Broward houses, and slab-on-grade removes the basement we would use anywhere in Kansas City for a clean run. Cable paths go through attics, soffits and furred walls, and where none of those exist we use wireless lighting rather than chase a route through block. Knowing this before design keeps the proposal honest about what can actually be concealed.
Third, sun and humidity set the specification. Glass facing the water takes hard afternoon light, so motorized shading is a comfort decision and a screen-visibility decision together. Equipment rooms in a house without a basement often end up in a closet or garage that runs hot and damp, so ventilation and placement get designed rather than assumed. Outdoor displays need a rating that matches whether they sit in full sun or under cover.
