What "low voltage" covers, and why one trade beats four
Low voltage is everything in the house that runs on a small conductor rather than a breaker: network cabling, AV pre-wire for speakers and displays, television and rack locations, camera and alarm rough-in, door stations and intercom, lighting-control wiring where the system is wired rather than wireless, and the conduit that lets any of it be changed later. On most Overland Park builds those get bid as separate scopes, and the seams between them are where the problems live.

The pre-wire is the cheapest hour of the build
Before framing, everything is a conversation. We can ask for chase space, a real equipment location with power and airflow, conduit to the attic and back down, and the ceiling framing an immersive speaker layout needs. None of it costs much at that stage because nothing has been built yet. After drywall, the same capability costs several times as much and usually looks worse, because now it involves opening and patching finished surfaces.
That is the whole argument for having low voltage in the drawings rather than added at the end, and it is why we would rather be in the conversation early even on projects where the scope ends up small. The most expensive sentence on a build is "we will figure the wiring out later" — which is not really a decision to defer the wiring, it is a decision to pay more for less of it.
